Quake shakes central Oklahoma

MOORE — A 4.5 magnitude earthquake shook Oklahoma shortly after 9 a.m. today, officials said.

The center was east of Norman, he said. Reports varied about exactly where the epicenter was but reports showed it was between five and six miles east and 3.1 miles deep.

“Apparently it was felt statewide,” Moore Emergency Management Director Gaylon Kitch said. “I’m looking at the Tulsa weather service and they felt it.”

He also said the emergency services out of Jefferson County felt the quake.

A state representative said staff members at the Capitol felt the quake.
