MOORE — The Pioneer Library System Foundation adds an upscale touch to the Big Read for 2013 at a private reception with author Tobias Wolff from 6 to 8 p.m. April 24 at the Oklahoma City home of PLS Foundation board member Jim Bowers and his wife, Lisa.

Wolff is the award-winning author of “Old School,” the selected novel for the Big Read, the Pioneer Library System’s annual celebration of reading in its communities.

In addition to the opportunity for guests to meet Wolff, the event will feature a specially-created menu of heavy hors d’oeuvres by Chef Derek Nettles, the former executive chef for the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion. The food will be paired with wines from Joe’s Place Fine Wines and Spirits in Norman. Chef Nettles will be on hand to demonstrate the preparation of his original creations.

A limited number of tickets remain for the reception for $100 each. Tickets may be purchased by calling 701-7622 or emailing plsfoundation@pls.lib.ok.us. An order form also is available on the PLS Foundation website, foundation.pls.lib.ok.us.

The Pioneer Library System Foundation was formed three years ago to financially enhance the programs and services of the 10 hometown libraries in the system. Among its first commitments were fundraising events that brought in visits from award-winning authors Tim O’Brien and Amy Tan during the previous two Big Reads.
