Technology center awards bid to Atlas contractors

Moore Norman Technology Center awarded a $16 million bid to Atlas General Contractors, L.C.C. to build the Information Technology Building on the Franklin Road Campus.
Atlas was the low bid of seven with $16,663,000 to construct the building, with north site improvements, the second floor buildout, renovate the central plant, upgrade equipment and a classroom wing.

    The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" episode shot in Slaughterville and Lexington last month will air 7 p.m. March 14 on ABC, KOCO Channel 5 and channel 8 on COX cable.
    The house was built in a week by volunteers who were coordinated by Ideal Homes of Norman on land in southeast Slaughterville.

    Jana Monroe was chosen as the Central Junior High site teacher. She has taught at Moore schools for 17 years, the last five at Central.
    Monroe taught at Kelley Elementary for her first six years and then Highland West Junior High for seven.

    Beth Harper was one of three finalists in the United States, two in the state, for the presidential highest recognition of K-12 science and math teachers. Another finalist is in Bingham.
    Two years ago Belinda Craig was finalist.

  • Cleveland honored for service with engineering board
    Cleveland County Commissioner Rod Cleveland received recognition from the Circuit Engineering District 5 Board Monday for his service as secretary and treasurer.
    The resolution, presented by Carol Kline, commended Cleveland for his leadership and service while representing not only Cleveland but Payne, Logan, Oklahoma, McClain, Garvin and Murray counties.

    Norman defense attorney David Smith said his client, Rayford Rico Bonner, 31, was cleared of all charges Feb.
