Vice chairman Rusty Sullivan closed Monday's county commissioners' meeting with thanks to county crews during the recent storm.

"Once again I would like to compliment county workers," Sullivan said. "We closed the courthouse at noon Thursday and didn't open until Friday afternoon. We worked around the clock."

"And we're still at it," commissioner George Skinner said.

Sullivan said they had received calls from residents that said our streets were better than the rest of the state and many other states.

"We couldn't start immediately because of downed limbs, " Sullivan said. "Icing was a real problem."

Mark Meyer, district one foreman sitting in for an absent Rod Cleveland, said he was out at 3 a.m. sanding and worked nine hours yesterday with three motor graders and one sand truck.

Cleveland was at a bond conference.

Commissioners approved at $15,552 payment to Pottawatomie County for housing inmates. The November, 2009, bill was $21,536."

"That's down a little bit from last month," Sullivan said.

They also approved an agreement with the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma for a Trash Cop Program for 2009/10. After the meeting, Skinner said it would help them (the county) to identify and clean up illegal dump sites.

In other action, commissioners:

· Approved the surplus of a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria from the sheriff's office;

· Approved a workman's comp claim of $1,058.44 for Sherry Beaver;

· Approved Dana Brown and Stephen Murphy as receiving officers for various commissioner accounts and Jimmy Coots as an alternate;

· Awarded bids for road oils to multiple vendors;
