Knight's fundraiser set this weekend

The Knights of Columbus of State Andrew’s Council will conduct their annual fundraising drive to support individuals with intellectual disabilities this weekend.

Members of the Knights will give away Tootsie Rolls and, at the same time, accept donations.

The Knights will distribute Tootsie Rolls beginning Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in Moore. The market is located at the intersection of SE 4th Street and Eastern Avenue.

On Saturday, the Knights will be at the Moore Wal-Mart on SW 19th Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

A Catholic family fraternal service organization, the Knights of Columbus raised more than $143 million for various charities in 2007.

In Oklahoma, the group supports the enter of Family Love in Okarche. The center provide vocation training, assisted living and full-time care for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Knights also donate time and money to the state Special Olympics and, locally, the St. Andrews Council supports Meadowbrook Acres, a group home for adults.
