OKLAHOMA CITY — Attornies for the family of Luis Rodriguez held a press conference Tuesday morning in conjunction with the death of Rodriguez Feb. 14. They released a cell phone video that captured part of an incident that took place at the Warren Theater in Moore that may have led to his death, according to attorney Michael Brooks-Jime’nez.
“Luis committed no crime,” Brooks-Jime’nez said. “He wasn’t armed. No gun. No knife. No weapon of any kind. But Luis was the one who lost his life that night.”
The video was filmed by Rodriguez’s wife, Nair. It last almost six minutes, but doesn’t begin until Luis is already down on the ground with five members of the Moore Police Department and private theater security.
According to MPD, Rodriguez died at the hospital in Moore after the altercation. However, the family contends he may have died in the parking lot of the theater.
Three MPD officers have been placed on administrative leave following the incident. They have yet to be identified. The cause of death is waiting on the toxicology report, according to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s office.
