MOORE — Officers of the Moore FFA chapter participated in the 2013 Oklahoma FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference Sept. 3 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Norman.

The eight state FFA officers planned and conducted this year's conference based on the theme, “Multiply... Your Numbers, Your Involvement, Your Success.” Elected officers from each of the 66 high school FFA chapters in the central district attended leadership training designed to equip them with exciting tools for membership recruitment and retention.

Rhett Laubach, Arcadia, was the keynote speaker for the conference. Laubach, state FFA president in 1992-1993, is a professional motivational speaker and leadership coach.

“We have nearly 25,000 FFA members in Oklahoma,” said Steven Vekony, state FFA president. “That’s great. However, I wish we could say we have 25,000 active members. That should be our goal.”

Officers attending from the Moore chapter were: Rylee Plummer, president; Shannon Haynie, vice president; Tori Roper, secretary; Payden Hendon, treasurer; Corrie McClees, reporter; Meagan Moody, sentinel; and Tony Anderson, Terry Wilhelm and Carrie Jacobs, advisors.

The FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education division of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. There area 24,598 Oklahoma FFA members in 352 high schools statewide.
