County commends workers

MOORE — Four members of the Cleveland County Fairgrounds staff were honored for caring for lost animals after the May tornadoes.

County Commissioners commended Andrea Earles, Billy Wartchow, Larry Whitehead and Bryan Jenkins for taking care of more than 200 animals at the fairgrounds in May and June.

More than 100 of the animals were reunited with their owners. The remaining pets were adopted out at events this past summer.

In other action Monday, Commissioners opened and tabled bids for work zone road signs and bids for inmate clothing and sandals.

Additionally, the board:

— Commended Election Board Secretary Jim Williams for his service to the country. Williams has taken a job in Oregon. His final election will be Nov. 12 with the Norman sewer rate increase vote.

— Approved a health department contract with Amanda Rose Miller for coordination services between the NorthHaven Day School and the Early Foundations Replication Project.

— Approved alcoholic beverage tax of $38,561.

— Agreed to call a special meeting to discuss the five-year road plan with the county engineer.
