It was just the beginning

MOORE — From a triumphant ride on a donkey through the gates of Jerusalem with crowds shouting “Hosanna, Hosanna,” to the King, to the upper room where Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, must have felt like a whirlwind to Jesus and all those close to Him.

How could He be praised and honored one minute and only days later take on the role of servant? Imagine how you would feel if Jesus wanted to wash your feet. Most of us would feel unworthy for Him to do such a menial task.

Take yourself to the garden where Jesus asked the disciples to pray with Him following the last supper. They fell asleep while Jesus prayed to His heavenly father to, “Let this cup pass from Me.”

I must say I would resemble Peter and tend to be physical when trying to protect Jesus from the soldiers who met them in the garden and arrested Jesus. I’m not sure that I would cut off a soldier’s ear, but somehow I would try to stop them from arresting Jesus, of that I am certain.

For a moment, we all must become Mary, the Mother of Jesus, on Good Friday, as she watches her son being beaten and die on the cross. I can’t imagine the heartbreak, the total injustice she felt, knowing He was the son of God.

But thankfully, it didn’t end on Good Friday. It didn’t end at the cross. That was where it began. It was there Jesus gave His life for us all and conquered death, hell and the grave.

It is on Easter Sunday morning that he arose, triumphant, victorious, alive. Very much alive.

We are so blessed to serve a Risen Lord and to know that He now sits on the right side of Our Heavenly Father making intercession for us.

From the cross to the throne. A glorious reminder of His love for us.

Happy Easter and may we rejoice as we celebrate together the resurrection of our king.
