New county site approved

MOORE — Cleveland County commissioners on Monday approved a contract with a Kansas-based company to build a new county website.

Civic Plus, of Manhattan, Kan., will be paid $74,740 for the project development and deployment and an additional $11,657 annually for upgrades, maintenance, support and hosting.

Commissioner Rod Cleveland said he wants to make the site more user friendly and engage citizens with their government.

Additionally, Cleveland said the website can be an economic development tool for the region.

The company was one of four that responded to a request for proposals sent out by the county.

Two of the companies that responded were local and two were out of state, Cleveland said.

Civic Plus works with about 1,600 communities on web building and maintenance, according to its website.

Cleveland said the new site should be up by summer 2014 and will incorporate the individual pages of other county offices such as the treasurer, county clerk and assessor.

“We want to provide more transparency for the citizens,” Cleveland said.

In other business, the county:

· Approved a $25,812 purchase of heaters for new buildings at the District 2 Warehouse on East Alameda Street. The bidder, Lieber Mechanical, was not the lowest bidder but provided a longer warranty than the low bid.

· Approved a $13,895 purchase of 14-foot dump truck bodies for District 2.
