The Moore American
MOORE — Val’s Sun & Shape, 101 N. Eastern Ave., is owned and operated by Valerie Carter who formerly was the day-to-day manager of the defunct tan and tone business at the same location.
Carter emphasized that she did not buy the business. She acquired the equipment that was in place and then leased the location. All policy for the defunct firm was decided at the chain’s corporate headquarters.
“Val’s Sun & Shape is a new, family owned and operated business. We are not a franchise but strictly a Moore establishment with local flair,” Carter said. “We plan a single location serving friends. Serving those who care about their health and well-being, inside and out is the new firm’s goal.”
Beyond the personal services, Carter said the salon will offer a positive and progressive impact on the greater Moore economy expecting to add six new jobs to the work force.
Carter said the state-of-the-arts establishment features 21 tanning units with levels 1-5, three stand-up capsules and two leg tanners. In addition to the 42 pieces of robotic fitness equipment, there is a Saunalite system, a full-body Redlight Rejuvenation bed and cardiovascular equipment.
“Our staff is carefully trained and highly dedicated to offering services for all women who care about their overall health,” Carter said. “The better you feel on the inside, the more it shows on the outside. Outward beauty is a by-product of feeling good on the inside. We feel that everyone is beautiful and we want to help women realize that fact.”
Carter purchased the equipment out of bankruptcy on Jan. 29 and immediately signed a long-term lease for the 8,800-square foot building on the existing site.
“We pledge total transparency and expect to remain a Moore institution for a long time.” Carter said.
Business hours will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
