MOORE — Last week, the City of Moore announced a utility rate increase and encouraged citizens to conserve water.
The City Council approved the following utility rate changes effective with billings after June 30:
Residential accounts: water will begin billing at 1,000 gallons instead of 2,000 gallons; consumption exceeding 20,000 gallons per month will be $5.23 per thousand gallons; poly carts will increase $1 per month for those with more than one cart.
There is no change for commercial accounts.
The primary reason for the rate increase is to match the rates charged to the City of Moore by the City of Oklahoma City for the purchase of water.
