MOORE — The Pioneer Library System has joined the Library Ideas’ network of public libraries that offer access to more than three million songs including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists.

The Freegal Music Service will allow the Pioneer Library System to increase the size and diversity of its downloadable service by offering access to more than 10,000 music labels from 65 different countries.

Registered cardholders of the Pioneer Library System can download three Freegal Music tracks in the MP3 format each week at no cost via .justsoyouknow.us/freegal. The songs are then theirs to keep. All they need is their library card number and four-digit PIN.

The Freegal Music Service also has an app, which is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

“We have been looking to expand our hometown libraries’ downloadable services. We think this will be incredibly popular with hometown library users and will help the library in marketing all its services to the community,” said Adriana Edwards-Johnson, PLS virtual library coordinator.

“Sony Music has an incredibly expansive and popular catalog and we are really excited to partner with them on this, a very important product for libraries,” said Brian Downing, co-founder of Library Ideas.

“A library is a focal point of the community that requires many tools to excite people about library resources. More than anything, that is the reason for the service.”

Libraries all over the world subscribe to the Freegal Music Service, including the Princeton, N.J., Public Library, Maricopa (Arizona) County Library District, The Edmonton Public Library, Orange County (Florida) Public Library, The Biblioteche di Bologna in Italy, Nashville Public Library and Fairfield (Connecticut) Public Library.
