MOORE — Norman-area businesses announced plans for a bowling tournament benefiting tornado relief efforts.
Hosted by Sooner Bowling and sponsored by Riverwind Casino and Ebonite International, the “Bowl it Forward” Benefit Tournament will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sooner Bowling, 550 24th Ave NW.
As part of the fundraiser, the evening also will include a silent auction as well as a roll-off competition.
Clayton Stewart, corporate accounts and sponsorship manager, said he and Sooner Bowling manager Mandy Haws knew their organizations wanted to partner on some type of event days after the May 19 and 20 tornadoes took place.
“While weeks have passed since the tornadoes changed so many lives, the needs of individuals affected continue to grow,” Stewart said. “This evening is meant to encourage the community to continue to support our neighbors as well as provide a little bit of healthy competition among friends.”
Haws said support from Norman-area businesses and community leaders has been overwhelming. Former NFL and OU football player Roy Williams has reached out to offer assistance with the event and asked if he could participate.
“We are honored to have Riverwind and Ebonite as partners in this benefit,” Haws said. “Roy Williams’ involvement further shows how much heart he has for Oklahoma. We are thrilled to have him participating for such a great cause.”
There is space for 24 teams in the tournament.
Funds raised will benefit multiple organizations related to tornado relief efforts.
