MOORE — The Cleveland County Board of Commissioners took up several contracts, heard a jail population report and gave the sheriff’s office a pat on the back during its regualr meeting Monday morning.

The commissioners thanked the sheriff’s office during their Monday morning meeting for the deputy escort of 17 charter buses transporting more than 500 Norman North students last weekend.

Sheriff Joe Lester said Cleveland County deputies were not the only ones involved in the escort. At the Oklahoma County line, a new deputy met them. Oklahoma Highway Patrol also was involved, as well as Tulsa County deputies.

“It was a pretty impressive sight,” County Commissioner Rod Cleveland said.

Cleveland said when the fleet of buses pulled into Tulsa Union High School, the Tulsa Union football team was departing for their game. The football team stared as bus after bus pulled in.

The students were fed Friday night before the game as well, Cleveland said. Norman North won the game against Owasso 49-42 and will be going to the state championship.

In other business, the board approved several contracts with Sooner Copy Machines, including:

· A standard service contract between the board of commissioners on behalf of the Cleveland County Health Department and Sooner Copy Machines for a long-term lease on a copier/printer/scanner at $100 per month and a copier/printer/scanner/fax at $228 per month.

· A standard service contract between the board of commissioners on behalf of the health department and Sooner Copy Machines for maintenance or service on the previously stated machines, billed monthly at $0.0075.

· A standard service contract between the board of commissioners on behalf of the Cleveland County Assessor and Sooner Copy Machines for maintenance or service on a machine billed monthly at $0.005 CPC black and white or $0.045 color, with a two-hour guaranteed response time.

· A standard long-term lease contract between the board of commissioners on behalf of the assessor and Sooner Copy Machines for a long-term lease on a machine at $147 per month.

Also approved during the meeting were cash fund appropriations and blanket purchase orders. The weekly jail report given by Undersheriff Rhett Burnett stated that 413 inmates, to date, were in the F. DeWayne Beggs Detention Center.
