Central United Way honors city manager

MOORE — Moore City Manager Steve Eddy was honored with the John Rex Community Builder Award on Jan. 24 by the United Way of Central Oklahoma.

More than 750 donors and volunteers joined the United Way of Central Oklahoma at the annual Volunteer Reception and Snowflake Gala to celebrate the results of the annual fundraising campaign and to honor community volunteers.

The event was held at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Preceding the Snowflake Gala, United Way of Central Oklahoma Board Chairman David Thompson presented the organization’s three most prestigious volunteer awards. Honorees, included Eddy, Martha Lippert, recipient of the Richard H. Clements Lifetime Achievement Award; Kris Rogers and James Bertsch, each were presented with the Ray Ackerman Leadership Award.

United Way Board Chairman David Thompson served as the master of ceremonies for both events.

The featured entertainment was the Edmond North Orchestra String Quartet.
