MOORE — Lue Manford Mathis, 87, of Norman, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. He was born Oct. 24, 1926, to Noah and Atha Mathis in Butler.
Lue was one of the founders of Highland Baptist Church; he found and assisted with the purchase the land for the church. He enjoyed being a greeter and driving the bus for the kids to Falls Creek.
Lue retired after 42 years as a truck driver from Teamster Local 886 Union. He was also a rancher and enjoyed breaking horses and running cattle. Lue also spent time as an auctioneer.
He is survived by wife, Lucille Mathis; four daughters, Linda Casey, Camen Spencer, Vicki Ferrell and Crystal Derebery; grandchildren Paul Casey, April Boyd, Melody Spencer, Clint Spencer, Lacy Ferrell and Dustin Hicks; and great-grandchildren Chandler Casey, Blake Boyd, Brenden Boyd, Briley Boyd, Clara Spencer, Destini Ferrell, Aiden Lucas Hicks and two on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Kelli Casey; and two stepbrothers.
Services were Feb. 18 at Highland Baptist Church in Moore. Interment followed at Lilac Hills Cemetery in Moore.
