Rodrick ‘Pete’ Lee Norwood Jr.

MOORE — Rodrick “Pete” Lee Norwood Jr., 42, of Oklahoma City, passed away March 30, 2013. He was born Dec. 16, 1970, to Rodrick and Linda Norwood in Anadarko.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Anadarko High School Auditorium, 407 W. Oklahoma Ave., Anadarko

Pete graduated from Anadarko High School in 1989. He loved football, especially the Oklahoma Sooners, where he also played corner back from 1990 to 1993. He also was a member of the OU Letterman’s Association.

Pete worked for the District Attorneys office in Anadarko before going to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Captain Norwood graduated from the 48th Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy in 1995. He had various assignments which included Troop J Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma City Headquarters Public Information Office, Troop YC - H.E. Bailey Turnpike before being promoted to Lieutenant in 2005 out of the Public Information Office. Captain Norwood was promoted to Captain in 2007 and assigned to the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, before being assigned as the Executive Officer then Troop Commander for Troop R - Capitol Section, in Oklahoma City.

At the time of his death, Captain Norwood was the Department of Public Safety’s Legislative Liaison at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rodrick Norwood, Sr.; and his grandparents.

Captain Norwood leaves behind a wife, two sons, step-daughter, mother, step-father, brother and a host of other family members.

Public viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, at the Lynlee Mae Chapel, located at 507 E. Main St., in Moore.

Visitation will be available for friends and family of Anadarko, prior to the funeral service from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Anadarko High School Auditorium.

An educational fund has been set up for his sons at The Bank of Kremlin, PO Box 197, Kremlin, OK 73753. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.
