MOORE — Billy Reford Johnson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 19, 2013. He was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Foster. Billy owned BR Johnson Foundations since 1975, but has enjoyed retirement since 2008. He was an active member of Southgate Baptist Church since 1965 where he taught Sunday school to 4th and 5th grade boys for over 40 years.
He was a quiet, gentle man who was known for his daily Bible study. The love of his life was his children and grandchildren, whom he would walk next door and kiss goodnight almost every night. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends on Friday nights.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Gayle; two children, Yancy Johnson and Valerie Summers and husband Noel; five grandchildren, Savannah Roberts and husband, Richie, Amanda, Hannah, and Micah Summers, and Victoria Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Hayden, Anna Grace and Journey Faith.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Southgate Baptist Church, 740 SW 4th St. in Moore.
Interment to follow at the Moore Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore.
