MOORE — Rex Dean Short, 77, died June 9, 2013, after a lengthy illness of COPD. He died at home in Moore surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 10, 1935, near Moore to Roy Lee and Luella (Shaffer) Short. The family moved to Wink, Texas, when he was in first grade and later moved to Kent County, Texas, where he graduated from Jayton High School in Jayton, Texas. He also attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Rex married his high school sweetheart, Dellza Hall, and they had three daughters. He moved his family to Moore in 1969 where he went into the residential construction/ remodeling business and later into home building.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years; three daughters, Shari Jones and husband Tim of Oklahoma City, Scarlett Shannon of Moore, and Lori Burgess and husband Grant of Moore; two grandsons, Sky Splawn of Oklahoma City and Tandy Jones of Norman; two granddaughters, Sidra Shannon and McEll Shannon of Moore; and one brother, Ted Short of Andrews, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services were June 12 at John Ireland Funeral Home.
