Charles ‘Chuck’ Atchley

MOORE — Charles “Chuck” Atchley, 76, was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Ft. Cobb, to Noah and Irene (Teague) Atchley. He passed away June 16, 2014, at his home in Moore with his family by his side. He enlisted into the United States Marines in 1954 and proudly served his country.

After returning home Chuck worked for Oklahoma City Bus Company as a driver and then started his life long career as a truck driver. He worked for Mistletoe Freight for 33 years and Yellow Freight for 11 years before retiring to spend his days “watching everyone else go to work,” as he put it.

Chuck was known best for his generous spirit, kind heart and his story-telling. He was a cowboy at heart. He loved his boots (all 40 pair), his hats, cattle auctions, horses, old western movies and good old country music. He loved to laugh and made sure everyone did lots of it.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Jacki Atchley; daughter, Michelle Walsh and husband Robert; stepson Chuck Sanders and wife Heidi and their daughters, Kyra, Cheyenne and Teja; three grandchildren, Joshua Squires and wife Stephanie, Sarah Walsh and Aaron Walsh; three great-grandchildren, Zeke and Lexi Squires and Gunner Walsh; two brothers, Noah Atchley Jr. and Donald Atchley and wife Trecie; three sisters, Louise Brown and husband Dale, Oleta Brown, and Carolyn Kueter and husband Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Irene Atchley.

A heart felt thank you to the nurses and staff at Faith Hospice and to all those who provided loving care to Chuck during his long journey.

Memorial services were Saturday, June 21, at Moore Funeral and Cremation in Moore. Condolences may be shared at
