MOORE — Brenda Ann West was born in McCamey, Texas on July 16, 1949, to Isaac Millard White and Teddy Caroline White. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Lovington N.M. where her father worked for Shell Oil Company. Brenda completed all 12 grades of school in Lovington, graduating in 1967.
She attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M. before beginning a career in banking and medical office bookkeeping. Brenda married Eddie Don West on March 9, 1985, in Roswell N.M. The couple moved from Roswell in 1986 and lived in Big Spring, Texas for two years and Vernon, Texas for two years.
In Vernon, Brenda served as one of the church secretaries of First Baptist Church before moving to Clovis, N.M. in 1990. In Clovis, Brenda worked as financial secretary for First Baptist Church while Eddie worked at Cannon Air Force Base. In 2005 the couple moved to Norman when Eddie’s job transferred to Tinker Air Force Base.
Brenda died on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, after a brief fight after suffering a severe stroke on Aug. 23, 2013.
Brenda was preceded in death by both parents and her only sibling, William R. White.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie of the home and their beloved Bichone, Clara Mae. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Danny and Nancy West of Vernon, Texas as well as nieces, Rachel West Nowels of Oklahoma City and Lydia West Strong of Yukon.
Eddie will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Narthex of First United Methodist Church, 201 W Main in Moore. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of FUMC in Moore at the same location. Her ashes will be returned to New Mexico which she considered her home.
