His decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster); Air Force Commendation Medal (1 OLC);National Defense Service Medal (1 Bronze Service Star) among other distinguished medals and ribbons. Upon retirement Oscar and Jo stayed in Moore until his passing. Since he couldn’t work he took his knowledge of minerals and metals and became a silversmith, eventually becoming the President of the Oklahoma Mineral and Gem Society and was recognized statewide as an authority on the art of Channel-Inlay.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents, Rueben and Leona.
He is survived by his wife Joann; son Steve (Tammy); daughters Cindi (Jim) and Deborah (Ira); Sisters Laverne (Don) and Mary (Bruce); grandchildren Kyle (LeShana), Brett (Jennifer), Bryan, Brooke, Lorna, and Shona; great-grandchildren Steven Kyle Jr. and Christina.
