We find fault with both OSU All American Guard Marcus Smart and the Texas Tech fan that Smart shoved in last week’s game with the Red Raiders.
The fan, identified as Jeff Orr, behaved badly and Smart overreacted in the heat of the moment. Both have apologized for their actions, but it’s Smart who will have the most repercussions.
Smart is suspended for three games, including the OU game Saturday in Stillwater. He’s a sophomore and will be a top prospect in the NBA if his temper doesn’t keep him benched in college.
The fan has said he will voluntarily stay away from the games for the rest of the season. He denies making a racial slur, which is why Smart said he overreacted as he did when he tumbled out of bounds late in the game.
We’re surprised more fans and athletes don’t get into scuffles. Buying a ticket doesn’t give a person a right to tee off on a student athlete, a referee or a coach, but we see it in most games.
