State Sen. Jim Reynolds will change jobs and get a nice pay raise next month when he takes office as the Cleveland County treasurer.
He has resigned his State Senate District 43 seat and will take office July 1, the beginning of the county’s fiscal year.
The governor has called an election for Aug. 9 to fill the south Oklahoma City seat, which includes voters in Cleveland and Oklahoma counties. State election board officials say the vote will be the first state legislative election to occur under the new proof of identity law. Voters must show a photo ID or the card issued to them by the election board.
The candidate filing period for the Senate District 43 special election is June 13-15 at the State Election Board in Room B-6 of the State Capitol in Oklahoma City.
The Special Primary Election is Aug. 9. The Special General Election is Oct. 11.
