MOORE — All three area wrestling programs also secured third-place finishes Saturday at State Fair Arena.

Moore’s Justin Gundlach stopped Stillwater’s Tyler Dieringer 5-1 to grab third place at 113 pounds. At 120, it was Westmoore’s Dalton Duffield taking bronze with a 4-1 decision over Stillwater’s Jacob Fontanez. And, at 182, Southmoore’s Zach Moore grabbed a 12-2 major decision over Union’s Wyatt Ellis.


The first big track meet of the season is the Annual Greg Byrum Track Classic. It’s set for Friday at Norman High.

Meet officials are expecting 25 teams from around the state to compete. That includes Southmoore’s boys and girls track teams.

The field events will start at 11 a.m. and the running events will kick-off at Noon.


After more than two weeks of scrimmages, the prep baseball season will get underway Monday when Moore travels to Southmoore for a 6:30 p.m. contest. It will be the first game of the season for both. The Lions will host the SaberCats Tuesday.Westmoore begins the season by hosting Putnam City West Monday before traveling to the Patriots field Tuesday.


The high school softball season was set to start this past Monday. But weather postponed games March 3 and March 4.

Southmoore will instead start the year Thursday at Norman North and at Putnam City Friday. The Jaguars will head to Newcastle Thursday before going to P.C. North Monday.
