Lee takes the reigns at Westmoore

“I’ve grown a lot as a quarterback,” Lee said. “Had a lot of fun throwing the ball around. Not what I expected it to be. Thought it would be a little more rough. But it turned out all right. Confidence is a big deal. Just in practice getting my reps with my receivers, getting some continuity with them.”

Lee said competing for the starting job has prepared him for the pressure games and moments he’s been through in the season.

“It made me work that much harder,” Lee said. I wanted to start. So I did what I had to do to get the starting job.”

The toughest game so far was the 24-0 loss to No. 1 Jenks at home. Westmoore’s offense was completely shutdown and Lee was ineffective for the only time this year.

Lee and the fifth-ranked Jaguars (8-1, 5-1) will get another chance to show they can compete with the top teams from the East side when they face No. 4 Broken Arrow (7-2, 5-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at Moore Stadium.

“It’s real big because last year we went to their house,” Channel said. “This year we get them as a home game and we play good at home. We will be real pumped up. We are all in. This time I feel we are going to stay physical all four quarters and stay in the game whatever happens. This is a big game.”

The winner will earn the No. 2 seed coming out of District 6A-2 and will host a first round playoff game.

“We just have to play lights out,” Lee said. “Execute on all sides of the all. We have to have another good game. It’s going to be a great atmosphere. It’s not going to be one to miss.”
