Area teams set to host regionals

According to Lee, his return may be eminent. The senior said he could see limited action Friday against Putnam City, depending on what his doctors say.

Sooner tour: Saturday during Oklahoma’s win over TCU, the Sooners invited several of its possible recruits to the game. Many of them came and stood on the sideline before the game and enjoying the atmosphere.

One of those players included Southmoore’s Jalen Adams. Even though the senior wideout hasn’t had the type of season he had hoped, he’s confident the numbers will begin to improve. He scored his second touchdown of the season Friday in a win over Putnam City West.

Adams and his SaberCat (3-2) teammates will face a stiffer challenge Friday when they host Lawton High (5-0) at Moore Stadium.

Regional volleyball: The 6A volleyball regional pairings were announced last week and every area school will have to hit the road to start the postseason Thursday.

No. 11 Norman North and Moore will compete in No. 6 Edmond Memorials regional site along with Putnam City. Norman High has to travel to Tulsa where it will face No. 4 Union, No. 14 Enid and Sand Springs.

No. 13 Westmoore also heads North to No. 3 Bishop Kelley. They will be joined by Muskogee and Ponca City.

Choctaw will host No. 9 Southmoore, No. 8 Owasso and Yukon.

Times for the regional tournament will be 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for the semi-finals and 7:30 p.m. for the championship finals. The host site will play the 4:30 p.m. semi-final game.

Last meet: With the Moore schools joining the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference (COAC) after this year, Tuesday will be the final Mid-State Conference Cross Country meet ever. It will be held at 3 p.m. in Norman at Irving Middle School.

Thunder coming: The Oklahoma City Thunder have made it an annual tradition during the preseason to pick a high school in the state to hold one of its preseason intra-squad scrimmages. This year that school is Westmoore.

Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka and the rest of the Thunder will be at Westmoore Oct. 13 to hold a scrimmage and practice. The scrimmage is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. in the Jaguars gymnasium.
