Winter sports get into gear

MOORE —

The Southmoore wrestling season gets started Thursday when the ninth-ranked SaberCats host Norman High in the teams first dual of the season. The Cats will travel to Del City Friday for the Del City tournament to close out the first week.

Southmoore will get its first real test of the year when it goes to Edmond North to matchup with the top-ranked Huskies Dec. 10.

The SaberCats will be led by 160-pound All-American Nathan Marek, who recently signed with the University of Oklahoma.

Swimming

Area swim teams take to the pool Saturday in the annual Joe Stocker Swim Meet. It will be held at Oklahoma City Community College Aquatics Center.

Basketball

The Westmoore boys and girls will head to the Durant Lion Classic Tournament Thursday through Saturday. They return to action Dec. 10 in their first home game of the season when they take on Norman North.
