Wolverines trample SaberCats 50-13

MOORE — Everyone knew Michael Warren could run.

And the Lawton High senior running back did just that, to the tune of 282 yards and two touchdowns on 24 offensive touches.

But the most valuable legs on Friday night at Moore Stadium belonged to Dallas Sealey, as Lawton’s senior quarterback scrambled to produce four key plays — including a 78-yard touchdown on third-and-48 — during the Wolverines’ 50-13 victory over Southmoore.

Before the game turned into a blowout, the Wolverines trailed 7-6 near the end of the first quarter and faced fourth down in Southmoore territory. Sealey escaped trouble, rolled right and ran four yards for the first down. Three plays later, on third-and-9 from the SaberCat 26, Sealey weaved in and out of a blitz, sprinted toward the sideline and found Myykhaill Shaw for a touchdown.

It was 14-7 Wolverines in the second quarter when Lawton found itself in a third-and-48 from its own 22. Sealey took a seven-step drop and was 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage when he flipped the ball to Warren, who was five yards behind the line of scrimmage when he caught it. Warren sprinted past the first three defenders, juked past a few more, then charged straight ahead and outran everyone to the end zone for a 78-yard TD.

Southmoore answered with a Jaelon Walker touchdown run to cut it to 20-13, but Sealey’s scrambling abilities came up big again late in the half, when he again escaped trouble before finding Kalin Sadler for a 22-yard touchdown. The Wolverines scored the last 30 points of the game.

“We work on those plays all the time in practice,” Sealey said. “I knew we were going to see some heavy blitzes, and I knew I would have to keep some plays alive with my feet. Our receivers do a great job of staying with the play and getting open, and I was able to find them tonight.”
