MOORE — The 25th annual All-State soccer games will take place over three days beginning Thursday at Newcastle High School and, at least in the Class 6A game, the West roster will be well populated by Moore American area athletes.
The Class 4A games are at 6 (girls) and 8 p.m. Thursday. The Class 5A games are at 6 an 8 p.m. Friday. The Class 6A games are at 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday.
In the boys game, Westmoore will be represented by Chris Ong, while the girls game will include four players from the Moore schools in Southmoore’s Kenzi Bice and Alyssa Glitzke, Westmoore’s Tiffany Hall and Moore’s Cindy Ramos. Ramos, though, will be playing for the East team.
Entry into each set of games is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Benefit clinic: The National Basketball Retired Players Association will host a free youth clinic for tornado victims ages sixth-grade and under. The clinic is scheduled 4 p.m. Thursday at Moore High School. Former NBA All-Stars Otis Birdsong and Michael Ray Richardson and Tulsa head coach Danny Manning will conduct the clinic. The NBRPA will make a $5,000 donation to tornado relief.
Moore War: The 5th annual Annual Moore War Run is at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. This 5K run through downtown Moore benefits the scholarship funds for Moore and Westmoore. This run is sanctioned by the USATF and timed with ChampionChips.
Each August, alums from Moore and Westmoore, as well as members of the community, put aside their differences to come together for a common cause--current students.
