MOORE — Oklahoma defensive back Steven Parker was arrested on a public intoxication complaint early Sunday morning in Norman.
Parker, a freshman, was taken into custody by Norman Police and then detained at the Cleveland County Dentention Center at 3:04 a.m. on Sunday. He was released about four hours later.
“Sorry to everybody who trusted in me,” Parker Tweeted Sunday afternoon. “I will bounce back from this and be somebody who is much better. Mistakes happen, but that’s no excuse.”
OU coach Bob Stoops has typically dealt with incidents like Parker’s internally.
Parker, 18, was the No. 1 player in Oklahoma last season at Jenks High School. OU defensive coordinator Mike Stoops singled him out in the spring as one of the players he expected to make an immediate impact this season.
