While Southmoore was never really in danger in the championship, that could not be said for its semifinal match with Muskogee. The SaberCats trailed the Roughers 12-5 in the fifth inning and it seemed their title chase was done.
But the ’Cats (32-5) rallied to win 15-14 in seven innings.
“Once we came back in that fifth inning in the semifinal, we came too far to ruin it now,” Arielle James said. “We have to go for it. I think I’m just going to remember how fun this game was. Even we would have lost, I can honestly say this is the funest game I’ve ever played in.”
