Lookout picks up first offer

MOORE — In a time where most high school athletes have decided to specialized in one sport, DeSean Lookout is branching out. In just his sophomore year at Westmoore, he became a standout on the gridiron and baseball diamond.

Now as Lookout prepares to for his junior season, it doesn’t look like he plans to lighten the load any time soon.

Lookout had individual success and team success in both football and baseball this past year as he helped both squads go deep into the postseason.

But now Lookout is starting to see the seeds of his gridiron exploits start to bear fruit.

The 6-2, 180 pound receiver led the team in catches with 46 and was second in yards (598) and touchdown receptions (5).

“My sophomore year I did good,” Lookout said. “I helped the team as much as I could. Did everything I was able to. I helped the team.”

Because of this, Lookout earned his first scholarship offer last month from Arkansas State.

“When that came in I was just surprised,” Lookout said. “It was my first one. I didn’t know what to do about it. I was talking to my parents, I was telling everybody at school. I was ecstatic about it. My first reaction was I thinking, is this my first one. Is this really happening right now. I was just really happy.”

Lookout’s teammate and fellow wide-out Dahu Green has gotten 15 offers so this year. It will take a while for Lookout to catch him, but he knows he will continue to get more as he attends more camps during the summer.

“I feel like I will get more and more,” Lookout said. “I’m just a sophomore. I feel like I have two more years to get as many offers as I can.”

Lookout also says he should see more offers coming in due to the attributes he brings to a team.
