ESPY award: ESPN announced its ESPY nominations Tuesday and Oklahoma softball made the cut a couple of times.

The national championship winning Sooners have been nominated for “best team,” a category that takes into account all teams, amateur and pro, men and women, from all sports.

Other nominations in the category include the U.S Women’s Gymnastics Team, the San Francisco Giants, the Alabama football team, the Baltimore Ravens, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Miami Heat.

The last college team to win “best team” was OU’s 2000 football team.

Also, two-time USA Softball collegiate player of the year Keilani Ricketts has been nominated for “best female college athlete.” Ricketts will be up against North Carolina lacrosse player Kara Cannizzaro, North Carolina soccer player Crystal Dunn and Baylor basketball player Brittney Griner.
