Pitch unkind to local teams in district action

MOORE — Area soccer teams had a tough week against Norman schools.

NHS girls 4, Southmoore 3: Not only did the Tigers (6-2, 2-0 District 6A-1) need a shootout to stop the SaberCats (6-3, 1-1) but first they had to get goals from Tana Stevens in the 74th minute and Shiloh Farris in the 78th minute just to force the overtime.

On the flip side, Southmoore was dealt defeat despite getting goals from Hanna Robinson and Alissa Glitzke to take a 2-0 lead just 9 minutes into the game.

Kalyn Dabney was one of the Tiger heroes, coming in to play goal for an injured Hannah Mohr in the middle of the second half.

She stopped one shot in the shootout while another hit the crossbar and that was all the Tigers needed as Lauren Goodman, Farris, Stevens and Rylie Carter each converted their shootout chances.

NHS boys 2, Southmoore 1: Theo Ostas scored in the second overtime minute to maintain the Tigers’ unblemished season.

Milton Cruz put the Tigers (8-0, 2-0 District 6A-1) on top early in the second half but Clayton Chai answered for Southmoore (2-6, 0-3).

Norman North boys 4, Westmoore 0: Friday night at Westmoore, North’s Mauro Cichero was at it again, following up a four-goal game against Southmoore with a hat trick against the Jaguars.

Carson Cacciatori put North (7-3, 4-0 District 6A-2) on top for good 19 minutes into the game. Cichero followed in the 29th, 43rd and 53rd minute.

Norman North girls 3, Westmoore 0: It took 43 minutes for the Norman North girls to finally crack the scoreboard, but once they did they were just getting started at Westmoore Friday night.

The Jaguars (1-9) have three games left in the season against Bishop McGuinnes, US Grant and Lawton.
