Regular season coming to an end for prep teams

MOORE — The regular season for all high school sports are starting to win down. That means the postseason for many teams is right around the corner. For some, that is this week.

Golf: The girls Regional Championship is April at Owasso Golf and Athletic Club and Norman’s Westwood Park Golf Course. State will be played in Edmond at Rivers Oaks Golf Club.

The boys will compete at Emerald Falls in Broken Arrow and the lake side Golf Course in Stillwater. State will take place at the Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater.

The Southmoore boys golf team is heading into the postseason after a strong showing Monday at the Mid-State Conference Tournament at Trosper Golf Club. They shot a 606 to take second behind Edmond Memorial. Moore came in fourth with a score of 627 while Westmoore came in last with a 704.

The SaberCats John Count shot a 144 over 36 holes to take third individually. He was one shot behind Norman North’s Thomas Johnson, who was the top medalist.

Track: The class 6A Regional track assignments were announced last week. Southmoore will compete at Norman High along with NHS, Lawton, Norman North, Putnam City, Putnam City West and US Grant.

Westmoore and Moore are heading to Edmond North along with Choctaw, Edmond Santa Fe, Eisenhower, Midwest City and Yukon. Both meets will take place May 4.

State track is at Yukon High May 10-11.

Tennis: The 6A girls regional championships are set for Monday. Westmoore, Moore and Southmoore will all be at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. The other three sites are Kickingbird, Shadow Mountain and Ponca City.

The boys regional title will be settled May 6. Once again the Jaguars and SaberCats at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. However, Moore must travel to Shadow Mountain in Tulsa.
