OU quarterback arrested

MOORE — American Staff

Oklahoma quarterback Kendall Thompson was arrested Friday morning for public intoxication, according to an affidavit from the Norman Police Department.

The NPD arrested him about 2:20 a.m. Friday. He was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of public intoxication and interference with official process.

According to the arrest affidavit, Norman responded to a noise complaint at the Reserve at Stinson apartment complex, 730 Stinson St. early Friday morning. When officers arrived, they found Thompson, 20, “lying in the grass on the hill leading up to the apartment complex.”

The officers said Thompson was snoring when they found him. They also noticed “a strong order of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.”

According to the affidavit, Thompson tried to rise to his feet and disobeyed orders to remain sitting. The arresting officer then “completed a spinning arm bar to take the defendant to the ground.”

He was taken into custody and booked into Cleveland County Jail at 2:17 a.m.

Thompson, a former Southmoore High School quarterback and the son of former OU quarterback Charles Thompson, will be a sophomore next season. He spent the spring competing for the starting job with junior Blake Bell and freshman Trevor Knight.

Thompson bonded out on an order of release at 11:48 a.m.

An OU athletics spokesperson said the arrest will be handled internally.
