NORMAN — Heartland Hospice recently announced an upcoming bereavement support group from 4:30 to 6 p.m. until Oct. 27 at the Senior Citizens Center, 329 S. Peters Ave. in Norman.
The six-week session is free and open to residents within the community who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
“One of the best things that you can do to help yourself in a time of grief is to get together with others who have experienced similar losses in a safe, non-judgmental environment and share your experiences and feelings,” said Shae Keen, Heartland bereavement coordinator.
Heartland offers support groups quarterly for families, as well as anyone in the community who is dealing with the death of a loved one.
“Our leaders use their training and experience to facilitate the group. However, it is the participants, along with their stories and their desire to find a path in the often confusing wilderness of grief, that make these groups successful,” Keen said.
Heartland Bereavement Support groups are facilitated by Keen, licensed professional counselor since 2005.
