Everywhere you turn there are hearts, cupids and flashy signs reminding us that Valentine’s Day will soon be here.
One of the young girls at work told everyone this is her favorite holiday next to Christmas. Her cubicle is decorated with everything imaginable and then some.
Her pen has a huge heart on top with pieces of pink feathers sticking out that tickles your hand when you pick it up. We watched as a male co-worker picked it up and stroked the feathers, admiring the charm of something so frilly.
She told everyone she purchased 22 Valentine’s Day cards. Someone asked her if she really had 22 people in her life that she loved. Her response was that she loves more than 22 people, but had to draw a line after she got to the check stand and paid for the cards, otherwise she wouldn’t have the money for the candy and flowers she wanted to get the really special people in her life.
Makes you stop and think. I’m not sure there are 22 people in my life that I would like to send a Valentine’s Day card. Sure, there are lots of people I like, but would I stop to buy a card for them on this particular day? Sadly not.
The Bible talks about love. I Corinthians 13 is known as the “Love” chapter. The best verse, of course, is 13. “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
Makes you stop and think of how Special God is – there are trillions and trillions of people in this world and even more that have gone on to Glory that God truly Loves.
He cares about each and every one of us. He is there for us, every time we need Him. He is dependable; He is constantly doing something for us without asking anything in return.
If anyone deserves a Valentine it is God. But what would you want it to say? “God, I Love You because You are the best thing that has ever happened to me?” “You are the One person in my life that matters the most?” “You are so Patient, Loving and Kind, there is no one to compare with You.” “My heart belongs to You?” “When everyone else fails me, I know You will always be there for me and I Love You for that.”
Come to think of it, maybe I will write God a Valentine this year. Words only He will see, telling Him how much I love Him and how I could never live without Him.
True Love. Forever and Always. We have the Greatest Valentine of all.
