Crest Foods donated more than $50,000 and nine truckloads of product to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.  This donation will provide 142,000 meals to hungry Oklahoma families and 251 students with backpacks full of kid-friendly, nutritious food for an entire school year through the Food Bank’s Food for Kids Backpack Program.

“The Regional Food Bank was selected, for the fifth year in a row, as the charity of choice for the 23rd Annual Crest Foods Invitational Golf Tournament,” said Crest Owner Bruce Harroz.  “Crest Foods believes in helping the Regional Food Bank in the fight against hunger and we were pleased to be able to partner with them again on this event.”

With the help of companies like Crest, the Regional Food Bank is able to provide enough food to feed 90,000 hungry Oklahomans each week throughout central and western Oklahoma, where one in four children struggles with hunger every day.

Part of the donation from Crest goes directly towards the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Backpack Program.

Before receiving help from the program, many of these children had very little or nothing to eat between school lunch on Friday and school breakfast on Monday.

“We value our partnership with Crest Foods and appreciate all their efforts to help raise food, funds and awareness to benefit more Oklahomans in need,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.  “In just four years, through this tournament, Crest has donated nearly $123,000 and 730,000 pounds of food for hungry Oklahomans.  We cannot thank them enough for their support!”

Established in 1980, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Oklahoma.

The majority of those served by the Regional Food Bank are children, seniors living on fixed incomes and working families who cannot make ends meet.
