Library Board awards honors for service
The Pioneer Library System Board of Trustees and the Moore Public Library honored two people for their efforts to support the library during the board's monthly meeting last week in Moore.
Skyler Parker, director of the Moore Food and Resource Center, has worked with his staff to battle hunger throughout the community. One example was in a health fair at the library in which the Food and Resource Center gave away about 1,130 pounds of produce, which added up to 942 meals for families in need.
Parker also has worked with Moore staff to provide SNAP training so they can more readily help customers in need receive services.
Greg Deaver, head of facilities for the City of Moore, has worked behind the scenes with the library on many events. One of the city's cherry pickers also was used during an egg drop contest conducted during the library's Summer Learning Program this year.
Parker received a certificate of recognition from PLS Board Chair Marilyn Bradford and Moore Public Library Branch Manager Chris Manna. Deaver also received a similar certificate but was unable to attend the meeting.
