The Orr Family Farm will host a Weather Round Up Day on Saturday a the farm, 14400 S. Western Ave. in Oklahoma City.
The event will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All teachers from Moore Public Schools will receive free admission with teacher identification and Moore Public Schools students who bring the event flyer, available at their school, can attend free of charge.
The event features hands-on activities for children and adults to learn about severe weather safety from the National Weather Service and community partners. Attendees can meet storm chasers and anchors from KWTV News Channel 9, explore storm chasing vehicles and Jim Gardner’s SkyNews 9 HD Helicopter. Other activities include craft projects, face painting and more. A drawing will be held for prizes including a free Orr Family Farm Summer Camp registration and more.
“As we approach the one year anniversary of the May 20 tornado, we want to do our part in promoting severe weather safety and educating children on the importance of being prepared and not scared when there is a threat of severe weather,” said Dr. Glenn Orr, managing member of the Orr Family Farm. “Through Weather Round Up Day, visitors will be able to learn about weather safety, plus take part in fun activities for the whole family.”
Other springtime activities will be available in addition to Weather Round Up events including train rides, petting and feeding barnyard animals, pony rides, the giant jumping pillows and more.
